In this article we are going to learn more about inpainting, more specifically about adding an object to the generated image. But let’s start with the first question that comes is “what is inpainting with DALL-E”?
Inpainting with DALL-E refers to the process of modifying an image by replacing or editing specific parts of the generated image using the capabilities of the DALL-E model. In this article we are going to add an object to the generated image.
We’ve already talked about how to use inpaint in DALL-E by removing the object, but in this article we are going to add an object.
SO, here we are – we asked DALL-E to generate an image of “the five of cups tarot card that is presented through a perspective of married life”. This is what Dall-e came up with:
Looking good. But, ouch, her leg is missing. This is where the inpaint feature in Dall-e comes handy. So, I opened the image, and in the upper right corner, I pressed on the button on the most left with a brush – that is the button that opens inpaint feature. I decreased the slider on the left side (as I always do) and I marked the area around woman’s missing leg. As I marked the selection, the Selection edit opened in the chat box. I entered “add a leg.” And this is what Dall-e did, and the results were surprisingly good:
In conclusion, the capabilities of DALL-E for image inpainting, particularly in adding or removing specific elements to an image, offer possibilities for digital artwork that are transformative. We demonstrated in this article that the process not only allows for creative expressions, such as reimagining a tarot card through the lens of married life, but also provides practical solutions for correcting imperfections in generated images. By effectively using the inpainting tool to add a missing leg in an image, we’ve illustrated the seamless integration and enhancement that DALL-E can achieve.
The process of inpainting not only enriches the visual content but also extends the narrative possibilities of images. As technology evolves, DALL-E’s inpainting feature promises to become an even more indispensable tool for artists, designers, and anyone involved in digital content creation, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved in digital imagery.
